I wonder how this piece would evolve if you told it as if you were experiencing it - as a story. Pick parts to slow down and describe so the reader can visualize and experience the flood themselves. Floods are scary!!
ReplyDeleteDid the Greene family rebuild? Your story is like a news story, and, as I'm a numbers "junkie," I liked the explanation of flood stages. So much water! I agree with Kathy's comment that you could take one piece of the story, e.g., the Greenes, and focus on that if you wanted to play around with it. Or be the 5-year-old and tell it from his point of view. :-)
